Project Summary
Indiana University’s Global and International Studies building plays host to 20 academic programs across 8 departments. The 165,000 square foot space portrays a distinct beauty and aims to preserve the health of our planet through environmentally friendly building practices.
This LEED Gold certified project’s signature elements are its three-story enclosed atrium and other building spaces that feature “Stones of the World.” These elements showcase stone from 10 countries on six continents as well as segments of Indiana limestone, connecting the state’s tradition to the university’s global history. The Stones of the World span from the east wall of the atrium and are repeated throughout elements inside and outside the building, including the facades, stairways and elevators.
The ASL Stone team was presented with the unique vision of Ennead Architects to source and supply 14 different stones from countries around the globe including Brazil, Italy, Serbia, Israel, Angola, Pakistan, China, Spain, and Madagascar. Our network of industry leaders allowed the ASL Stone team to source and package all the specified stone for the project and streamline the process for the contractor.
